Obituary of Susie Bennett, New Waterford
It is with broken hearts, we announce the passing of our mom and grandmother, Susie Bennett, age 62 on Feb 7th, 2024 at New Waterford Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
Born in New Waterford, Susie was the daughter of the late Florence “Mitt” (Campbell) and Tommy Bennett.
Ma was someone who actually lived for her family, her daughters and the kids were her life. If Ma wasn’t at bingo or darts, she had a house full of kids, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Ma was the glue that held us all together.
Ma is survived by her darling daughters “As she would say”, Crystal (Bobby), Lisa, Kimberly (Blake) and her special girl, Tamisha (Michael), grandchildren, Austin (Skyler), MacKenzie, Tyrese (Haley), Christopher, Jacob , Brett , Meagan(Coady),Christian , David and Kelsey (Jayden) and great grandchildren, Payton, Brayden , Summer, Carter , Octavia, Lincoln, Elijah, Raven, Jasper, Leland, Landon ,Aria and her special girl, Blakelynn .
Susie is survived by her partner, Joey Pheifer, who did everything for Ma, and we are forever grateful.
Ma will also be sadly missed by her brothers, Russell (Gloria)Bennett and Tommy (Lorraine) and Marcus Simon, aunt, Dorothy Parr and many nieces and nephews.
Ma shared a special bond with her nieces, Kelly and Candace and nephew, Christopher as well as her special friend, Andy.
Besides her parents, Ma is predeceased her sisters, Helen (Roddy)Campbell, Joanne (Wayne)Bickerton, Barbara (Jimmie)Keeping, aunt Kay (Alby) Muise, nephews, Joey, Lauchie and Devyn, son in law, Floyd Zimmer and great granddaughter, Baby Spencer.
We would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at New Waterford Hospital 2nd Floor, for taking care of Ma and treating her so well, as well as Dr. Lange, her special nurses Emberly, Oliver (Jill)and 51 (Sam), you all made it easy for us! The care that unit gives to the patients and their families is like no other.
Thank you, Andy and Joey for sitting with her non-stop and anyone who visited, called and msged, and to her niece, Nurse Robin, without you on this journey, we would have been lost, we are forever grateful to you all, xo.
As per Ma’s wishes cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 15th, 2024 at 12 noon in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Interment at a later date in Union Grove Cemetery.
