Obituary of Shirley June Ruelland, River Ryan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Nannie, and friend, Shirley June Ruelland, 89.

Shirley passed away peacefully on February 11th, at home with her family by her side.

Shirley grew up in Glace Bay with parents Gordon and Rita Wilkinson and brother, Bill.

Being in the kitchen was Shirley's favorite pastime where she always had a fresh batch of tea biscuits waiting. She was a skilled knitter, enjoyed a bingo night, and a warm cup of tea.

Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband, Eugene Ruelland, and best friend and cousin, Alice Leadbeater, both of whom she missed dearly.

Surviving are children; Kevin (Barbara) Ruelland, Glace Bay, Cindy (Ray) Wilson, Lingan, Brenda (Greg) MacNeil, Halifax, Gordie Ruelland, River Ryan, and Garrett (Jen) Flint; good friends, Judy Ruelland, Mary Murphy; grandchildren, Holly (Nick), Evan, Jessica (Peter), James (Larissa), Emily (Brendan), Sarah (Matt); great-grandchildren, Elliott, Noelle, Nilah, Cole, Tallie, Brody, Madison, Sophie, Sadie.

Special thanks to the staff of Hematology, Palliative Care, VON, and Dr. Lowry and Joann Boudreau for their exceptional care.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
