To the MacLeod family,
I wish to pass along my deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved Carl. I didn’t know him. I hadn’t ever met him. But I am blessed by his grace and kindness; profoundly and powerfully affected by his dedication to the betterment of those living with MS. In the face of fear and amongst the unknown ravishing of time, those of us with MS look to people like Carl with great comfort and solace. I take inspiration from his life and I believe many others have too. I hope it gives you comfort to know that he helped so many of us who have MS to get better, feel better, and be better. His legacy and selflessness will live on through the many people that he helped directly and indirectly. To you Carl, I wish to say thank you. Farewell and following seas.

Dear Darren, Glen and Arlene.
You knew your dad well: The red and white balloons, the photo of Carl sporting a carnation in his boutonnière all depicts his passion over the past 25 plus years raising awareness of the Multiple Sclerosis "Cause" in Shirley's memory. He was a wonderful ambassador.
The Carl I got to know through MS was kind, caring, compassionate and generous; he never met a stranger.
Carl loved his family, Cape Breton, New Waterford and discovering the joy of dancing at the Legion with Sheila in more recent years.
Your dad will be missed.

Carl was a beautiful man whose greatest loves included his family and his unstoppable desire to help find a cure for MS.
I first met Carl as the ‘MS cake man’ many years ago, but he quickly became a friend I greatly admired.
I’ll always remember his infectious smile, gentle soul and kind words. He cherished his community and never judged, only loved.
I’ll never forget how his eyes would light up with pride when he’d talk about his children Darren, Glen and Arlene, or his grandchildren.
Through the deep passionate devotion Carl had for his wife Shirley, he proved to all who knew him, the true magical love in fairytales does exist.
I’ll always be grateful for every conversation, laugh and tear that I was able to share with him.
My deepest condolences to Carl’s family and friends.

My condolences to Carl's family. I first met Carl at the grief support meetings, 11 years ago. Then we often met at various senior dances. We became good friends. Since he lived in New Waterford and I lived in Sydney we had many long conversations over the phone. He was a fine gentleman and a tireless worker for the MS Society. May he rest in peace.

Magnum loved spending time with his "Poppy" and kept him company whenever he was around. He will surely miss the scratches behind the ears , pats on the head and of course the occasional bit of food from the table that just happen to fall in front of him .
