Mary Mullins, Glace Bay

Obituary of Mary Valerian Mullins, Glace Bay

With saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Mary (Boutilier) Mullins, age 75 on March 4, 2024 at Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford with her loving family by her side.

Mary was born in Glace Bay to Blanch Nearing and Gussie Boutilier.

Mom married her high school sweetheart Freddie and shared their love together for 52 years.  They were loving parents and raised their three children, Katherine (Rob) Hammer, Kingston, Ontario, Denise (Kenny) Dicks, Sydney and Angela (Jonathan) Hunter, Halifax.

Mom had 6 Grandchildren, Logan, Peyton, Natalie, Jaylee, Marissa and Blake who loved their nanny very much.  She has 12 brothers and sisters who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Mary was employed for 25 years at Price Choppers in Glace Bay.   She was kind, gentle, generous, loving, and always put others before herself. Mary always had a kind word, and a smile for everyone.

She cared deeply for her family.  She did this not out of obligation but because of who she was.  She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children and husband.  Anyone who knew them, knew that she was a star in their eyes and that’s all that ever mattered to her.

Mom is predeceased by her loving husband Freddie Mullins, her parents and sister Florence Cranney.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff of Maple Hill Manor, Memory Lane who cared so much for mom.  Also, to Kendra Baldwin (administrator) for the exceptional family support over the past 8 years.

A private family service will be held at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding.

Interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wallace Road, Glace Bay at a later date. On line condolences to the family can be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca
