Obituary of Margaret Jane Odo, Scotchtown

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Margaret “Mickey” Jane Odo (Williams), of New Waterford, Nova Scotia on March 5th, 2024, at the age of 66 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. She was born in New Waterford and was the daughter of the late Michael and Edith Williams (Francis).

Margaret spent most of her time doing what she loved. She was the proud owner of Margaret’s Tailor shop located in Sydney NS, which she acquired from Gerd Bruckschwaiger whom she considered family. She was a true artist when it came to tailoring! Over the years she developed close friendships with her customers, many of whom would drop in just to have a tea and a chat. She especially enjoyed her visits with her two close friends that would visit the tailor shop frequently (Deborah and Kathy).

Margaret and Eli were members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Unit 217 for many years. They enjoyed shooting darts on Friday nights, having a great time and making fond memories with friends.

She loved her fur babies, Kitty and Molly as well as her grand fur babies, Lola and Molly; they were her pride and joy. She is now with her little buddy, Snoopy.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Eli “Chuppy”; her two sons that she adored, Adam, and Paul (Jacky); sisters, Darlena, Tasha (Rob); brothers; Allen (Patsy), Vernon, Roger (Rose Marie); sisters-in-law; Linda (Frances), Elaine, Luanne (Gerald), Ruth (David), and Murdena; brother-in-law, David (Beverly); many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Edith; brother, Michael (Anne); father and mother in-law, Eli and Jennie (Ropek).

The family would like to thank the CCU and the ICU nurses and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for all that they did.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, NS, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15 at 1 p.m. with Father Godwin Obike officiating. A reception will follow at the Army, Navy, Air Force, New Waterford. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
