Obituary of John Joseph Detienne, New Waterford

Jackie Detienne, age 75, passed away at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital on Friday, March 8, 2024.

He was a son of the late Damien and Elsie (Wilcox) Detienne.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Diane and Darlene; three brothers, Damien, Leo and Willis.

Left to mourn are his sons, Ron and his family, and John, both of Toronto; one brother, Jimmy (Kay), his sister, Delores, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jackie lived most of his life in Toronto, where he worked as a bouncer in several bars. He was also employed in the construction industry. He moved back to New Waterford several years ago.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford where a service will be held on Thursday, March14 at 2:00 pm with Rev Duncan Roach officiating.

Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Jackie’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
