A long life well lived. Rita Mae (Flutur) Gouthro passed away on April 7, 2024 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit in her 102nd year. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Bridget (MacIntyre) Flutur. 

She is survived by her son, Eldy Gouthro (Pam), Ontario; her daughter, Darla Brown (Mel), Boularderie; great-granddaughter, Ashlyn.

She was predeceased by her husband, Eldridge Gouthro; daughter, Valerie Rose Gouthro; grandson, Shane; sisters, Rhodena 'Toddy', Milentine, Ellen 'Nellie'; brothers, Onafrey, Joseph.

There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass of celebration will be held on Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Godwin Obike officiating.
