Obituary of Neil "Nipper" MacDonnell, Dartmouth/ Long Point, NS
“Heaven called an angel home today”
Neil MacDonnell “Nipper”, age 56, born in Saint John, NB on April 22, 1967 passed away peacefully on the 13th of April 2024 in Dartmouth, NS surrounded by his loving family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was the son of Angus MacDonnell and Mary Buffett.
Nipper is survived by his mother Mary Buffett of Dominion, NS, sister Mary Mackie (Baker Mackie), step sister Gretta Kegan, two daughter's, Laura Holland and Melissa MacDonnell (Mikey Inglis) and his three grandchildren, Savannah, Kadance, and Melinda, whom he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by his father, Angus MacDonnell and step father, Russell Buffett.
Nipper was a compassionate, quiet man who lived a quiet life. He loved his family and was a master at video games and also an avid fan of rock & roll music.
He grew up in Long Point, NS before settling in Dartmouth, NS. Nipper used to work at The Daily News, Halifax.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at the Dartmouth General ICU for all of their care and support during Nipper’s stay.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors Ltd. & Cremation Centre, Dartmouth.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21st, 2024 from 7-9 pm followed by a chapel service on Saturday, June 22nd at 11 am, all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, NS. Fr. Dan Boudreau presiding. Interment in St. Eugene’s Cemetery, Dominion, NS. followed by a reception at RCL Branch 78, Dominion.
