Dear Ruth and Susan . I'm sorry to hear about your mum, I had actually just been thinking of her very shortly before I read this. Aa you know your mum and mine Kathleen were cousins and they often had some lovely visits and I was often in on them, always lively discussions. There are not many folks left from that generation (O'Connell or Verner) God bless her and my best to you in these sad days. Regis Verner

My condolences to Susie’s family. I worked with Susie at the Department of Health. We did not work in the same geographic area but we saw each other at our many meetings in Sydney. She always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes!! She was always very stylish and myself and the rest of the nurses would wait with anticipation to see what Susie and Marie would be wearing !! They were much more stylish than the rest of us !! God bless her and please know that at this sad time, Susie has once again put a smile on my face. Bless you all.

Joan & I offer our deepest sympathy & condolences to Ruth & Susan on the passing of their wonderful mother.
Susie & her mother were related to me through the Verner family of Glace Bay. My mother was Alice Verner.
Susie was a terrific person, with a beautiful smile & a ready wit; put me in my place many a time. I loved her & enjoyed her company immensely.
She served the people of New Waterford & area for many years in her capacity of Public Health Nurse. She was an exemplary citizen of our Town.

For my dearest grandmother, my Nan. I will always remember the many trips to George Street visiting your forever home, and later on Thompson. Our days spending time together while playing cards and catching up on the goings of life were a vital part of my upbringing . You were always eager to know anything and everything. You took the time to listen as well and give occasional tips that were crucial and quips that were hilarious, you had a quick wit to yourself and forever a kind heart through and through. I will always cherish the memories and know that you were always there for me and my mother as well. That can never be denied. I know that you’re smiling down upon us along with our cherished Aunt Yvonne too.I will always love you, your grandson, Darren

My condolences Ruth. I didn't know your mother, but I remember her well from when she would come to the schools to do TB testing and give us kids our innoculations (though I didn't look forward to her visits, she made the procedures painless). Remember too her style and elegance. In reading the condolences from others it is obvious your mother was a very nice woman, as well.

Mom,
May the flowers you so gingerly grew in your garden blossom forever all around you. May the songs you sung so passionately in the choir bring you joy in heaven and may we continue your undying commitment to community service. We will never be able to match your 75 plus years of service to your community with your quiet style but we will try. A lifetime of wonderful memories. Mom, all my heart, Susan.

Ruthie and Sue and all Susie's family, you have my sincere condolences on the loss of your beautiful Mom.
We began walking together when I was 60 and she was 80 years old. I could hardly keep up with her. We were only allowed to discuss recipes, no gossip ! She was a wonderful person, friend and lady. She always smiled at adversity and cherished her girls and their children. Her beautiful picture does not do her justice. Susan had a gorgeous soul, sense of humor and love of life that shone through her precious eyes and made you feel blessed to know her. She lived a long , full life filled with prayers and laughter. We loved her too.
