It was with great sadness that I read of Robert Hector's passing. He was a great friend who I went to University with. We shared many stories and laughs. In our first conversation we discovered that we knew people in common, his Uncle and Aunt from Boisdale. Who,we then shared stories about. I will always remember him with great friendship . As he said at the wake of his father,you can only cry about his loss for a while and the you need to laugh as he told me a story about his father that made us both laugh. He said you must remember the joy they brought into your life. So my friend I will remember the joy you brought into mine. We had a great time with him, my parents, the other students. The last 4 years, I could'n t reach him anymore but I knew he was sick, from another Canadian. so sad of the news of fr.roberts passing,he is in non doubt at the table of the lord,for he put his religion above himself for many years.but for many years before he became a preist Robert and his family were as close as reletives growing up a few houses from him.he was a great guy and fantastic priest he received my moms ashes and brought them to glace bay for burial he preformed the funeral ritualthis meant a lot to me. his family and friends were at the forefront to tell you. how proud they were.I hope the family accepts my condolences and all remember fr. Robert was such a great guy. We grew up together and he was the boy Mom and Dad allowed to take me to the Sea Cadet Dances. He was charming and funny and even from the altar at Mom's funeral he found a way to bring a smile to our faces. How shocking to know I will never hear that laugh again. He was very special to our family and visited our home often. The last time I saw him was when he came to visit our Mother about a month before she passed away.
