Dear Nancy & Family,
I was saddened to hear of Dan Willie's passing. He was such a fine man and I have many memories of him particularly as we went through our teenage years--memories of school, Camp Carmel, being at various sports events, and just around the neighborhood. He was such a genuine and kind person and, though he could be very serious, he always had that glint in his eye especially when we were up to any shenanigans. I hope you all will find the comfort and solace you need in the love and caring of family and friends and in your many memories of happier times together.

Dan Willie MacKinnon, my cousin and someone who embodied all that is good in this world. I always felt pride when I saw him in town, knowing he was related to me. In retrospect, he reminded me of the main character in ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’, Atticus Finch. Both were men of deep principles, going through their days in a small town, helping neighbours and the community, just a gentle
man who lived life with the convictions in his heart.

Dear Mackinnon family.
You were not only great neighbors but friends as well.
Our formative years were molded by our own parents but also by the parents of our friends and neighbors as well.
I can honestly say that Dan Willie was a strong figure in my life in the NW. He was a great teacher of mine but my fondest memories come from having me stand at first base while he “succinctly” discussed my next move! (I needed all the coaching I could get). I only knew him as a kind and gentle soul be it on the field or in a classroom.
Nancy and kids, I am so sorry for your loss. Dan Willie will be missed by the entire community and anyone who has ever had the pleasure of sharing a conversation or cribbage game with him.
Reading the names of the grandchildren and great grandchildren above is a testament to the strong family bond you all have and surely Dan Willie “rises again in the faces of his children”
