I am a year older than Irene and when I attended St. Anne's school, at lunch time I would walk to Foundry Street to the Brewer home and spend time with Irene. I remember staying overnight, listening to the "playing piano" in the living rooman on occasion sitting beside a box of kittens behind the stove in the kitchen. I also had occasion to stay with her and to visit her lovely home with my own sister,Frankie, my oldest son, Charles and his 2 daughters before she moved to Reserve Mines and into an apartment. I miss her.

I am saddened to hear of Irenes’ passing, she was such a kind hearted,soft spoken and funny lady, always had a smile on her face and took time to stop and chat when we met…I met Irene at Knox Lanes through good friend Linda. She so generously gave me an ornament for my garden when I retired which, to this day, still sits in the garden and brings back memories of her every time I put it out.
