Gayle Jollimore, New Waterford

Obituary of Gayle Dolores (Fiore) Jollimore, New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Gayle Dolores (Fiore) Jollimore at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the age of 66, after a brief illness.

Born in New Waterford on July 28,1957, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Carmella (McLeod) Fiore.

Gayle spent her younger years in Ontario, where her and her husband Allan Jollimore started their family, then later returned back to Cape Breton to raise their boys, Christopher and Adam, so they could be surrounded by their family who meant the world to her.

Gayle's life changed forever when she was blessed with her beautiful granddaughter, Layla Rose. She loved spending as much time as possible with her, loving her and watching her grow. She absolutely adored every moment with her. Layla was a Nana's girl and always made her smile. Layla was her pride and joy.

Gayle was a devout Christian with a deep faith and strong spirituality that carried her through her illness. Gayle had a special devotion to Mother Mary, who’s Rosary gave her strength and peace throughout her life.

Gayle is survived by her husband Allan, their sons, Christopher (Crystal) and

Adam (Lindsay); granddaughter, Layla Rose; brothers, Craig (Paulette), Lorne (Sherry),  and sister, Karen (Hommy) as well as her beloved nieces and nephews, Melvin, Joshua, Jordan, Sherry, Shannon, and Davey. Gayle also leaves behind her special furbaby, Flicka, who will miss her dearly.

Besides her parents, Gayle was predeceased by her brothers, Duane and David Louis (in childhood), as well as nieces, Karen Lynn and Shanelle Fiore and grand aunt, Charlotte Tighe, who was like a second mother to her.

In honour of Gayle's wishes, there will be no visitation. A Mass of intent has been offered for her at St. Leonard’s and Holy Redeemer Parishes. A graveside service and interment will be held on Monday, July 15 at 11 a.m. in St. Agnes Cemetery with Father Paul Murphy officiating.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.

God saw you getting tired,

And a cure was not to be,

So he wrapped his arms around you,

And lovingly whispered, come home with me.
