Obituary of Kathleen 'Kay' Cadden, New Waterford

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen 'Kay' Cadden, 84, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Hospice Cape Breton surrounded by her family.

Born in Dominion, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (MacDonald) Young.

In earlier years, Kay owned and ran Beach Street Dairy located in the family garage. She loved playing radio bingo every Sunday but most of all, loved her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are daughter, Charlene (Earl) Cadden-Power; son, Shawn (Shannon), both of New Waterford; grandchildren, Branden (Andrea), Aiden and Jackson; special granddaughter, Krysti.

Besides her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband, Charlie and two sisters, Theresa and Fredericka 'Freddie'.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25 from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A Funeral Mass of celebration will take place on Friday, July 26 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Godwin Obike officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. Donations in her memory may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
