Yvon Joseph Chiasson, New Waterford Obituary

It is with sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Yvon Joseph Chiasson, 74, on Friday, August 2, 2024 at home. 


Born in Cheticamp, he was the son of Evelyn (Maillet) Chiasson and the late Albert Chiasson. 


Yvon attended school at Mount Carmel and worked for over 40 years as a delivery person with Ben's Bakery. He enjoyed anything to do with cars; including restoration and racing. Yvon was a life-long Montreal Canadiens fan.


Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Woodland) Chiasson; sister, Diane McNeil (Jim); brother, John (Brenda); daughter, Susanne (Gus) Kalbhenn; daughter-in-law, Colleen McNeil; granddaughters, Ainsleigh and Kayleigh Kalbhenn; grandson, Albert Chiasson; many nieces and nephews.


Besides his father, he was predeceased by his son, Gerry Chiasson; in-laws, Richard and Violet (Antinello) Woodland; brother-in-law, Mickey MacNeil. 


There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9 at 3 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford with Father Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will be held in the funeral home with burial to follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
