Obituary of Richie Corbett, New Waterford

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Richard "Richie" Corbett, 71, of New Waterford on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. 

Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late John and Sarah (MacLeod) Corbett.

Richie worked as a coal miner in Lingan for 12 years and Prince Mine for 10 years.

Surviving are his son, Richard (Robin) Corbett, Jr.; Trenton, ON; grandchildren, Jessica, Hailey, Alex, Terrance, Justin, Madison, Emma, and Brandon.

Besides his parents, Richie was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Ann (MacIntosh) and daughter, Margaret Ann.

Special thanks to his long-time friend, Paul Hines and sister-in-law, Lillian Power, for all their care and support of the years. 

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A private graveside service will be held in Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date with Father Godwin Obike officiating.
