Obituary of Theresa Lucille MacKinnon, New Waterford

With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of our mother, Theresa (Burke) Lucille MacKinnon on Sept. 5, 2024.

Mom was born in Lingan on March 30, 1940 to the late Walter and Tessie Burke. She worked for New Waterford Home Makers for 10 years, but no job was as important as being a mother. Her children and grandchildren were her world. She loved hosting Sunday dinners where she would make all of our favorites. When she wasn't with her family, you could find her playing bingo where her hair always had to be set and just so. 

Surviving to mourn are her children, Joey, Sharon (Bernie), Robert and Mary Theresa; grandchildren, Cory, Joelle, Tyler, Nicka, Alishia, Kelsey, Caitlin, Jeffrey, George, Jennifer, Shauna and Brian and her 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Vange and her brothers, Gerald, Bernie, Danny, Elden. 

She is predeceased by her children, Arlene, Anne Marie, and George; her sister, Mary and her brothers, Joe and Patrick. 

A special thanks the VON and her daughter Sharon for the care that was given to her the last few years.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford with Father Godwin Obike officiating. A reception will follow at the K.O.C.
