Obituary of Catherine Ann 'Kitty' Doucette, New Waterford
It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Catherine Ann 'Kitty' Doucette, 84, on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024 at New Waterford Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Angus 'Judique' and Elizabeth (MacMullin) MacDonald.
Kitty started her employment with New Waterford Hospital in the Housekeeping Department. She would later do house cleaning at various homes throughout town and most recently worked at Mount Carmel Glebe House until her retirement. Kitty enjoyed playing darts at the Army, Navy, Air Force and loved to bake and cook. Most of all, Kitty enjoyed having people around and was known for saying, "the more, the merrier".
Surviving are daughter, Wendy Doucette; sons, Gerard (Bernadette), and Billy; sister, Mary MacKenzie; grandchildren, Shane, Billy and Darren; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Zachary; brother-in-law, Joey (Barb); sister-in-law, Mary; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Kitty was predeceased by her husband, Billy; brothers, William 'Sonny', Nipper John, Angus; sisters, Betty, Rachel, Francie, and Margie.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A Funeral Mass of celebration will take place on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Godwin Obike officiating. A reception will follow at the Army, Navy, Air Force, Unit 217, New Waterford. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
