Joyce Hebert, age 79, passed away on Monday, October 7th , 2024 in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney with her family by her side.

Born in Glace Bay, Joyce was the daughter of the late John Norman & Edna Margaret (Appleton) Nicholson.

Joyce will be remembered as a very sweet lady with a hardy laugh and a love for walking and playing bingo. She adored her grandchildren and they would often remark how she was a, “Cool nanny with a great sense of humor and always up for an adventure.”

She is survived by daughters, Margaret Burke (Doug), Beverley Tarzwell (Dave), son, John (Liezel), grandchildren, Christine (Kevin), Mitchel, Kyle, Kayla, and great grandchildren, Coen, Evan, Zoey, MaryJane, Celestina. 

Also surviving are Joyce's two brothers, Stanley (Patricia - "Pat"), Archie (Catherine) Nicholson.

Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Kurtlyn Hebert in 2012, grandchild, Kaitlyn Faith, two sisters, Shirley and Ruth in infancy.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. There will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Glace Bay Foodbank or a charity of one's choice.
