It is with sadness we announce the passing of Judith Ann "Judy" Ruelland on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born March 27, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary (Gentle) Sweeney.
Judy is survived by children, Lloyd (Donna), Michaelann (Craig), Patsy, Trina and Trevor (Jennifer); grandchildren, Devin, Amanda, Nick, Jay, Kaitlyn, Rylan, Marshall, Sawyer, Quinn, Bailey, Sidney, Luke and Jackson; great-grandchildren, Nakel and Cash; brothers and sisters, Barb (Maurice), Joe, Reva, Ebby (Ann), and Jamsey (Carolyn).
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond "Pithorse"; siblings, Claudia (Charlie), Paula, Donna Marie and David.
Judy spent the best part of her years raising five pig-headed, strong-willed, redneck children. This, in itself, was a 16 hour a day job. She was very strong-willed and really, really, really loved to talk to anyone with an ear. She was well known for her fish cakes, cabbage rolls, spaghetti and homemade bread. Judy loved listening to all kinds of music from Leonard Cohen and Pavarotti to Elton John and Elvis; three of four of whom she got to see live in concert.
She will rest in peace with a circle of friends that include, Raymond and Lynn Baker, Fabby and Mary Lizzie And Caridi Pozzebon.
Special mention to her Friday night chats with Bernice; 6th kid, Sherri Cameron; neighbor, Robbie Burchell, and beautiful grandniece, Livie.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford.
