Obituary of Kenneth "Kenny" John MacKillop, River Ryan
It is with deep heartfelt sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Kenny MacKillop, age 63 of River Ryan on October 30th, 2024.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Ken MacKillop and Rita (Petrie) MacKillop. His parents later moved to Toronto where they raised their family.
As an adult Kenny and his family returned to Glace Bay and he eventually settled in River Ryan where he worked for Canada Post.
Kenny was a loving, kind hearted, giving, loyal person. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. He loved his family and was always there for a friend in need.
Kenny enjoyed bird watching and was fascinated with eagles. He enjoyed music, camping, fishing and getting together with family and friends. He played guitar and was an amazing harmonica player and would often bring out his guitar and harmonica while enjoying time with family and friends around a roaring fire.
Kenny is survived by his wife Colleen, daughter, Katie and two grandsons, Seamus and Iain, his sister, Karen, his nephew and niece, Dylan and Haley and his grand nephews, Jody and John, his sister, Cheryl and his nephew, Malcom along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home in Glace Bay.
A private graveside family ceremony for Kenny will be held in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
