Obituary of Peter William Power: Sydney, New Waterford

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Willie Power, age 62, of Sydney, formerly of New Waterford in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on November 9, 2024 with his family by his side.

Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Martin and Margie (Groves) Power. 

He is survived by his two daughters, Shannon and Cheryl and son, Dudley; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Madden and Kai; also left to mourn, his sister, Lilly; brothers Francis (Donna) and Martin. 

Besides his parents, Willie was predeceased by sisters, Sarah and Theresa.

Willie was a major sports fan, watching it everyday; namely his favorites, the Buffalo Bills and Toronto Raptors.

We would like to thank the staff in the Palliative Care Unit for their special care they gave Willie and his family. We would also like to thank V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home for their special service.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Private graveside prayers with Father Godwin Obike will be held in Mount Carmel cemetery. In his memory, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada.
