Obituary of William Gerard Doyle, New Victoria

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of William Gerard Doyle, 68, on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024 at Hospice Cape Breton.

Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late James Alexander "Jimmy" and Teresa (McIsaac) Doyle.

Gerard worked in the coal mines for 24 years at Lingan, Prince and Phalen Collieries. He enjoyed playing darts at the Legion and was a member of the K.O.C. and New Waterford Pensioner's Club. Gerard was also a volunteer firefighter at New Victoria Fire Department - Station 28 for 15 years. Gerard loved spending time with family, especially his kids and grandkids.

Surviving are his wife, Cecelia "CeCe" (Wolfe); children, Jamie (Jaclyn), Leon (Raylene), Sandy (Stephanie); grandchildren, Emily, Alyssa, Abbygail, Archie, Tyson, Walker and Arizona; sister, Genie (Sammy) Newman.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy and Francis.

Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Deacon Lorne MacNeil officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County or a charity of one's choice.
