Obituary of John (Johnnie) Alexander Beaton, New Waterford
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of John (Johnnie) Alexander Beaton, 64, of New Waterford, Nova Scotia, on February 7, 2022.
Johnnie was born in New Waterford on July 24, 1957 to Margaret (‘Peggy MacDonald) and John Beaton. He is survived by his mum, Peggy (Truro); brothers, Glen (Evelyn), New Waterford, Keith (Belinda), Lingan, Gary (Jeanne ), PEI; and sister, Ann Marie White (Paul), Truro, and many neices and nephews.
Johnnie was preceded by his father. After graduating from Breton Education Centre, Johnnie earned his Millwright and Industrial Mechanic Certificates from the University College of Cape Breton. He then utilized these skills for a number of years while employed with DEVCO at Lingan mine.
Johnnie was one of the kindest and gentlest souls you could ever meet. His younger brothers and sister always looked up to him. Johnnie's love and caring for his mum in particular was beyond description, as evident when he provided for her care and needs for many years. No matter where Johnnie was or what he was doing, she remained foremost in his heart, calling her frequently just to say ‘hello’ and see that she was fine. It is beyond any words we could say or write to describe our loss; his gentle smile and laugh will forever be missed.
The family would like to express our thanks to all staff at the New Dawn Guest Home for their kindness and caring of Johnnie, and a heartfelt thanks to those staff that he would call his friends.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. A private service will be held for Johnnie, and his mum Peggy, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca. or foresthaven.ca.
