Obituary of Bernadette Perin

It is with much sadness and love that we announce the passing of Bernadette Perin. Bernie peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side on Friday, February 24, 2017, at Maple Hill Manor; her home for the past 16 years. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Elizabeth (MacNeil) Reid. Bernie worked as a housekeeper at St. Michael’s glebe house, River Ryan for several years. She also worked at the GI Plant and the lunch counter at Woolworth’s until her retirement. She was a very caring, loving mom and nanny; always ready to help when needed. She was also a great cook and baker and had a passion for reading and bowling. She was the president of the local bowling league for several years up until 1999. Bernie will be sadly missed by her only child, son David (Hectorine), New Waterford; grandchildren Tammy Perin (John), Tom Perin (Amanda); great-grandchildren Jillian and Cole Perin, all of Calgary. She is also survived by brothers Frank (Mary) Reid, Baddeck and Joe Reid, Ontario; brother in-law Ray Hines; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by a daughter in-law Caroline (MacEachern) Perin; sisters Margaret Peggy Anthony, Mary (Raymond) MacDonald, Agnes Hines, Ruth MacIssac, Donna (Jimmie) Higgins and brother Roddie Reid. In honouring Moms wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. No words can truly express our sincere appreciation for the loving care provided to Mom by all of the staff at Maple Hill Manor.
