Obituary of Robert Francis 'Chocolates' Murphy, New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Robert Francis 'Chocolates' Murphy, 48, on February 25, 2017. Robert was born on June 6, 1968 in Napanee, Ontario to Antoinette (Roach) Murphy and the late Raymond Murphy. Robert was known for his great sense of humour and always lending a helpful hand. He always loved making the kids laugh and was a big kid at heart. Robert was very proud of his sons and adored them. In younger years, he enjoyed playing soccer and was a member of the NSSAF provincial winning high school soccer team at Breton Education Centre in 1985. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Robert leaves behind his three sons, Robbie, Jarrett, and Stephen; special friend, Sherry McKinnon (mother of his sons, Robbie and Jarrett). He lived with and will also leave behind his mother Antoinette Murphy; three sisters, Paulette (Greg), Jannette (Bill), Rose (Allan); one brother, Raymond (Ann); eight nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and nephews and many friends. Robert was predeceased by his father, Raymond Murphy. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will take place at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford. Donations in his memory may be made to Mental Health Services at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
