Obituary of Maria `Mia` Schima

Maria " Mia" Schima New Waterford It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Maria "Mia" Schima, 99, of Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford on April 2, 2016, with family by her side. Born in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Johann and Theresa (Zeger) Cestnik. Mia was a member of Calvin United Church, and was owner and operator of a candy store on Amelia Street, Scotchtown. Mia loved to travel to Europe. She was very well loved and she will be missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her sister, Rose Furlong; nieces, Barbara and Geraldine Furlong along with other nieces and nephews and family members in Germany. Besides her parents, Mia was predeceased by her husband, Frank, brothers, Erven, Hans and Eric; sister Herta and by a niece, Rosalie. As per Mia`s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Interment will be held at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
