Obituary of Jean Wadman, Glace Bay

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear sister. Jean passed away peacefully at the Glace Bay Hospital, on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the age of 79. Born in Glace Bay, October 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Fanny (Sturgess) Wadman. Jean was a longtime and faithful member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay. In her earlier years, she worked in the office at the old Glace Bay General Hospital and also for a period she worked at the GI Plant in Sydney. Jean was a member of TOPS for over 50 Years, she enjoyed doing crafts and was a member of a local crafting club. She also enjoyed her visits to the casino and she looked forward to watching the Blue Jays and the MontrealCanadiens games on TV. Left to mourn her passing are her sisters Lyn Wadman and Flo (Ron) Kelly; sister in-law Sheila; nieces Corrina, Deborah; nephews Randy, Robert and Matthew. She is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews; great-grand nephews and friends, especially Edgar. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers Richard “Dick” and Robert James in infancy. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 7-9 pm in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Vernon Reid will be celebrated 11 am Saturday, April 15, 2017, in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay. Interment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay. Memorial donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
