Obituary of Mary Ida Boutilier

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mary, age 70, passed away with her loving family at her side, April 09, 2016 at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Leo "Skipper" and Mary (McInnis) Byrne and was a member of the former St. John’s Church, Glace Bay. Mary was a very kind, caring and generous person who gave freely of herself, always putting the needs of other before those of her own. Her main love in life was her family; she truly loved and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings. She was a very friendly person and had a great sense of humor. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving family; daughter Kimberly (Robbie), Glace Bay; sons Clarence and A.J., both at home, John (Sharon) ON ; grandchildren Glen, Robbie, Kayla, Brittany, Kevin, Ashley, Shaylene, Brody, Johnathon, Alyssa; great-grandchildren Larissa, Casey, Jesse, Maddix, Callie, Jase and Abigail; She will also be missed by sisters Winnie, Anna, Greta; brothers Archie, Peter, Michael, Danny, Brian, Bobby, Joe, Kevin; former husband Clarence Boutilier; two special friends Shelly, Shannon, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her son Kevin; sister Margie; brothers Joe and Leo and a brother Joe, in infancy and her long-time companion Butch. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 10-11am. A funeral service officiated by Fr. Leo Boone will immediately follow at 11am; both in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Memorial donations in Mary’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
