Patrick ‘Buddy’ Kane, 85
Baddeck/ New Waterford
Patrick ‘Buddy’ Kane, age 85, a former resident of Smith Street, New Waterford, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck.
Born in New Waterford, Buddy was the son of the late Roy and Mamie (Ryan) Kane.
Buddy was a bartender at the Army, Navy, Airforce Hall, New Waterford for 26 years, he was also a life member as well. He served with the Canadian Military during the Korean Conflict. Buddy enjoyed playing crib, tarabish, darts and in his younger years he was involved with boxing. He always had a quick come back to whatever anyone said.
Buddy is survived by his daughter, Linda (Allie), grandson, Warren, granddaughters, Kathy (Sheldon), Sherri (Richard), Melanie, 8 great granddaughters, Jessica, Kayla, Madisyn, Courtney, Elizabeth, Brianna, Zoe, Mya and 1 great grandson, Myles.
He was predeceased by his brother, Roy, sisters, Bea (Willie), Fernie (Jim), daughter, Cathy, granddaughter, Melanie, grandson, Brian Marusiak Jr. and son in law, Brian Marusiak Sr.
No visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Ray Huntley is Tuesday, 10 a.m. in St. Leonard Church followed by interment in St. Agnes Cemetery. The reception will be held in the Army/Navy/ Air Force Hall, Smith Street, New Waterford.
