Obituary of Patrick Francis 'Frank' Madden, New Waterford
It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Patrick Francis 'Frank' Madden, 79, of New Waterford on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay, after a brief battle with Demetia.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late James T. and Mary (Wilson) Madden.
Frank was a member of Mount Carmel Parish, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. He was a coal miner for the majority of his working life as well as a welder at the Heavy Water Plant. Frank was full of energy and could often be found in his garage creating one of his many woodworking projects or out doing yard work. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all.
Surviving are his wife, Teresa (Chiasson); daughter, Francine (Steve) Perreault, Dartmouth; son, Kenny (Tammy) Madden, New Waterford; grandchildren, Keigan Madden, Kennedy Madden, and Anastasia Wiebe; sister, Lena Bonter, Simcoe, Ontario; sister-in-law, Casilda Madden; brother-in-law, Ray (Mary) Chiasson.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by in-laws, Lucy and Joe Chiasson; brothers, Luke and Dave Madden; brothers, Joe, Ned and Jack Nugent, Pat, Mike, Jim, and Miles Madden; sisters, Mary Ann, Katie and Nellie.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation wil be held on Friday, June 23 from 6-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, June 24 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Miner's Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines, Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay, as well as Dr. Raed Azer, for their compassion and professional care over the last couple of years.
