The family of Charles Alexander “Charlie” Prendergast regret to announce his passing on July 20, 2017 at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.

Charlie was born November 8, 1930 in New Waterford, N.S. to the late Edward and Mary Elizabeth (MacDonald) Prendergast.

Charlie was a member of St. Leonard’s Parish. In his earlier years he painted houses and was also a roofer. Charlie was an artist; he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a very quiet, gentle, generous person who loved children and was known to look after his neighbour if they needed him. Charlie was always thinking of others first.

Charlie is survived by his brother, Eddie and sister, Betty (Lawrence), Ontario.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jack; sisters, Monica and Sally.  

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.

A funeral mass of celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 26th at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Interment will  follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford.

Donations in his memory may be made to Mount Carmel Church.
