Born in Glace Bay, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Mabel `Lovey’ (MacLean) and was a long-time resident of Rebecca Street. She was a very religious person and was a faithful member of Holy Cross Church. Mary was a quiet, generous, but busy lady all of her life. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling Canada and camping in Mira. Mary worked 44 years at the Glace Bay General Hospital and the new Glace Bay Hospital as a seamstress, where she was respected by her coworkers who all enjoyed working with her. She was also very involved in crafts for many years, making tole paintings and ceramics for everyone. Mary will be sadly missed by brothers John (Sharlene), Wendover Ont., Jim (Janet), Glace Bay; sisters Georgina (Calder ) MacDonald, Glace Bay, Andrea Nandlal, Pickering, Ont.; sisters in-law Josephine Burke, Toronto, Ont. and Debbie Burke, Glace Bay; many nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Gary (Bim), Glace Bay.
