Obituary of Cody Alexander Burke, Victoria Mines
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved, Cody Alexander Burke, who was taken much too soon on August 11, 2017.
Cody was born on November 17, 1996 to his loving parents Joe and Sandra (Moran) Burke. Besides his parents, Cody leaves behind his big brother, Nicholas (Katherine and their puppy, Molly), his fur sister, Zoe, and the love of his life, Emily Demeyere as well as their dog, Junior. Also left behind are Emily’s parents, Melissa and Greg. Cody leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends that span across Canada.
Cody followed in the footsteps of his father and became a pipefitter. Most recently, Cody was employed at Suncor with his brothers and coworkers of Local 488. In his younger years, he excelled as an athlete. Cody was a Division I soccer and basketball player and was known for his hustle and team spirit.
Cody was happiest spending all his time at the bungalow. His heart was in Gabarus & will remain there forever.
Cody’s big smile would light up a room, his hugs were so comforting, and his positive outlook on life was contagious.
Cody loved his family with all his heart and always looked forward to family gatherings. He was the life of any party and would put a smile on the face of anyone there.
Cody lived life free spiritedly and to the fullest; he did it his own way and how he felt right.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Eddie & Margaret Moran, and paternal grandparents, Irma & Joe Burke. Cody was also predeceased by aunt, Margie MacSween and uncle, Alex Moran.
There will be no visitation. A funeral mass of celebration will take place on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard , Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating.
