Ruth Worthington, 76, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Rosie (Rosta) Warren. Ruth held many jobs throughout her lifetime, some of which included, the Tasty Treat and Woolco.
She enjoyed making blankets, crafts, crocheting and going to the flea market on Sunday’s. Ruth had a great sense of humour and she loved to laugh. She also admired angels. But mostly, she loved her family and truly enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Cynthia, Debbie, and a granddaughter, Melissa O’Brien whom she raised and considered her as her own daughter.
Also surviving is Ruth’s brother, George, daughter in law, Darlene Worthington, grandchildren, Thomas, Brittany, Rebecca, Cody, Rosie, Daniel, Jason and three great grandchildren, Brandon, Chloe and Owen.
Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her son, Tim, sister, Rosie and a brother, Gerald.
Memorial donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
The funeral service officiated by Rev. Myrna MacMullin is Wednesday at 3 p.m. followed by a reception, all in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
