Obituary of Jeanette MacEachern, New Waterford
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend, Jeanette MacEachern, age 89. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital on Saturday Oct 21st, 2017.
Born in Dominion on September 28th ,1928, she was the daughter of the late Frank Pirotte and the late Annie MacNeil. Jeanette was a member of St. Leonard’s Parish in New Waterford. In her earlier years, she worked at Woolworths in New Waterford and was the proud mother of 9 children.
Jeanette had many hobbies of which included being an avid fly fisherman which came with a Lifetime membership to the New Waterford Fish and Game Association. She also loved the Margaree River, playing a mean game of Tarbish and crib and is the reigning Jeopardy Champion.
Jeanette is survived by her sister, Rita McIsaac, Inverness; sons, Terry (Val), Halifax, Bernie (Sharon), New Waterford, Michael (Jane), Halifax, Harold, Fort McMurray; daughters, Joanne (George), New Waterford, Janet (Donnie), New Waterford. She is also survived by her over 25 grandchildren, over 40 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She has also left behind many special nieces and nephews and a few close family friends of whom include, Bev, Tara, Karen, Sue and the Pembroke family.
Besides her mother and father, Jeanette was preceded by her husband, Harold; sons, Bradley, Glenn and Brian; brother-in-law, Francie; granddaughter, Tabitha and special companion, William Pembroke.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford . A funeral mass of celebration will be held on Wednesday, Oct 25, at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford, with Father Norman MacPhee officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. All are invited to join the family for a reception at the Parish Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford, immediately following the funeral mass.
A special thank you goes out to Bernie and Sharon for the daily care of Jeanette over the last nine years. Also to the staff of New Waterford Home Care, VON, 2nd floor Nursing staff at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, and the many Doctors and Nurses along the way.
