Obituary of Carol Larade

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Carol Roberta Larade (nee Leudy), age 72, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, on Sunday April 24, 2016, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Waterford, N.S., she was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Coakley) Leudy . Carol lived most of her life in the town of New Waterford, where she happily married her wonderful husband and raised her son and daughter, as well as spent many cherished moments with her family and friends. She worked as a medical secretary to doctors in Sydney and New Waterford and was very appropriately named Citizen of the Year for her tireless efforts volunteering in every aspect of community life. She loved her life, and her deep faith in God epitomized her love for all people. She will forever be remembered for her laughter, smile, and loving personality. Carol is survived by her treasured soul mate of 48 years, Edward Larade, New Waterford; her son Eddy (Louise) Larade, Pickering, ON; her daughter Debbie (Troy) MacDonald, Lingan, NS; her grandchildren, Amanda and Lisa and great granddaughter, Brooklyn; as well as her sisters, Bobbie (Paul) Cross, Miramichi, NB; Patricia (Charlie) MacDonald, Shirley Leadbeater, all of New Waterford, NS; and her brother, Robert (Beverley) Leudy, Kitchener, ON. She is also survived by relatives, friends, several nieces and nephews and each of their children, many of whom she is affectionately known to as Nana Carol. Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by her sisters, Jean Wilson, Laurie McCarthy, Anita Connors, two brothers, Tony and Johnny Leudy. There will be no visitation. The funeral mass of celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation to follow with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, NW.
