Glace Bay
Ray Lewis, age 85 of Glace Bay passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Freeman Abner and Emma Susanne (Allen) Lewis.
Ray spent 25 years in the Canadian Military and 29 years working for the Department of National Defence in Kingston, Ontario. He loved wood working as a hobby.
He is survived by his second wife, Josalyn (Wilson) Lewis, six children, Michael, Linda, Irene Snider (Allan), Eleanor Boyd (John), Rick, Randy (Kimberley), his sister, Shirley, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by his first wife, Adeline (Boudreau) Lewis, his son, Philip, three brothers, Aubrey (Ruth), Frederick (Jean), Philip (Muriel) and a sister, Mildred.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26th from 2-4, 7-9 pm in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
The funeral service officiated by Rev. Myrna MacMullin is Monday at 3 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay followed by a reception.
