Obituary of Barbara Jean Keeping

It is with profound sadness we the family announce the passing of Barbara Jean Keeping, age 51, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, Thursday, April 28, 2016. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence `Mitt’ (Campbell) Bennett, and was a member of Calvin United Church. Barbara was an extremely caring person, who would always lend a hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed a good game of bingo, playing cards with her friends and she was an excellent homemaker. Above all else, Barbara’s life was dedicated to her family, whom she absolutely adored. She leaves behind to mourn her passing her loving husband of 25 years, Cecil `Jimmie’ Keeping; son Christopher (Farrah); daughter Candace; her pride and joy and the light of her life, her five grandchildren, Bryson, Parker, Allie, Keira and Cody, all of New Waterford. Barbara will also be sadly missed by her sisters Susie Bennett, Helen Campbell; brothers Russell Bennett, Thomas and Marcus Simon; aunt Dorothy Parr; special friend Joan Gillis; goddaughter Robin Campbell; many nieces, nephews and friends; especially her niece Kelly Campbell, who was also her best friend. Besides her parents, Barbara was also predeceased by stepson Jimmy Gallant; sister Joanne Bickerton; in-laws Cecil and Caroline Keeping; grandparents Susie and Brick Campbell, Marcus and Charlotte Bennett; special nephew Devyn O’Connell; brothers in-law Wayne Bickerton and Roddy Campbell. In honoring Barbara’s wishes, there will be no visitation; cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Duncan Roach will be held 3 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in Calvin United Church, New Waterford. Following the funeral service, all are invited to meet with Barbara’s family during a reception at the KOC Hall, Plummer Ave., New Waterford.
