Obituary of Mary Josephine 'Minnie' MacDonald, New Waterford

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Mary Josephine 'Minnie' MacDonald, 80, of New Waterford on December 24, 2017 at the Maple Hill Manor.

Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Cornelius and Ivy (Mason) Hogan.

Minnie was a former member of St. Agnes Parish, New Waterford and more recently, St. Theresa's Parish in Sydney. In earlier years, she enjoyed going to Bingo. Most of all, she loved being surrounded by family and friends.

Surviving are her daughters, Cindy Latham, Sydney, Lynne Hudson, Georgia, USA, Karen MacDonald (Spencer Clulee), Halifax, Kelli Lee, Annapolis Valley; one brother, Michael (Charmaine) Hogan, New Waterford; three sisters, Carmella 'Ricky' MacIsaac, Anita (Andrew) Digero, both of New Waterford, Dorothy Blondeau, Hamilton, Ont.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; three stepsons, Wayne MacDonald, Butch MacDonald and Alex MacDonald.

Besides her parents, Minnie was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Stephen MacDonald; second husband, John Archibald 'Buck' MacDonald; son, Joseph MacDonald Jr.; grandson, Daniel Spencer Richardson; brothers, Tommy Hogan, Connie Hogan and Jerry Hogan.

In honouring Minnie's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Burial will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
