I have known Brine my whole life, and remember climbing the stairs to his shop when I was a toddler, by myself, welcomed in with all the other ladies. He was such a gregarious and vibrant personality. I'm so glad I got to see him holding court in the shop when I was at home in February. He was so generous when my own mother was ill, and just always so thoughtful of others. He's touched so many lives, and I will never forget him. My condolences to you all.

From my earliest years I still have fond memories of climbing the stairs to Brine's, seeing all the ladies in curlers and learning what the term "gossip" meant. As I travelled the globe I quite often was presented with the dilemma of needing a haircut and weighing that need against how long it would be before my next trip back to New Waterford to visit Brine's. Quite often I showed up "two months overdue" for a cut as I was more comfortable at "my own" salon! It's not that I couldn't find a decent haircut wherever I was on the globe, it was more due to the fact that Brine's was more than a salon to me. It was kind of like the bar on the sitcom "Cheers" where "everybody knows your name". Brine was a gentleman in every sense of the word and his kindness, particularly during the time of my own mother's passing will never be forgotten.

I was so sad to hear of the sudden passing of Brine. It seems such a short time ago when I was calling him on Plummer Ave. I always enjoyed calling on the Beauty Salon as the family was always so good to me. After my wife, Marg, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Brine sent food home with me. Brine was well respected in his industry. The was shown when he received the Achievement Award from The Cosmology Association of Nova Scotia. I did not know his father, but his mother Eileen was always kind to me, and she had a great sence of humor. Brine, your life seemed too short, but you achieved great things. Thanks to the McIsaac family who were always great to me.
