Stephen Harrietha
96, Glace Bay
Stephen was born July 29, 1919 in Glace Bay and passed away on May 4, 2016 at Taigh Na Mara, DVA wing, Glace Bay.
He was a member of the Queens Own Rifles, OC, serving from 1943 to 1946, during the Second World War. Stephen worked for many years at the Central Shops, Glace Bay.
Surviving are daughters, Gloria (Ernie), Eilene (John), New Brunswick, one son, Michael (Carol Anne), Glace Bay, 5 grandchildren, Jamie (Jacqui), Australia, Shayne (Lianne), Ontario, Stephen (Jennifer), Glace Bay, Lynn, Glace Bay and Michelle (Ian), Glace Bay.
Stephen will be sadly missed by his 15 great grandchildren, Danny, Brooke (Sabrina), Hayden, Sinead, all in Australia, Shea, Seth, Tate, all in Ontario, Dominic, Christopher, Rebecca, Nickolis, Tyler, Jesse, all of Glace Bay and Jonah and Christey, New Brunswick.
Stephen was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Walsh) Harrietha in April 2003, his parents, Andrew and Lucy (Murphy), brothers and sisters and great-great-grandson, Connor, Feb. 2008, (New Zealand).
The visitation for Stephen is Tuesday, May 10th from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Leo Boone is Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church followed by a reception in the church foyer. Interment in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Anne’s Cemetery Fund.
