Today June 16 was the first time I heard of Joes passing , he was such a good man ,he aloud me to join him at one of his shows at the Savoy, when he first started the Back in time band and had me play a couple of my own tunes , to his wife and family you have my deepest condolences ,and joe always had my deepest respect , Rest In Peace pal!!

Dear Effie: We are so sorry for your loss. We extend our sympathy to all your children and loved ones. We always spent a lot of time growing up with Joe. He was often in our living room playing many instruments with Charlie and their many bands. Mom would serve them sandwiches and drinks. Joe was always very kind to me and I certainly appreciated his kind ways. I hope you will find consolation in your faith and family dealing with your great loss.

Dear Effie, Bill, and Lisa. While we are pleased to know that Joe's suffering is over; we are very sad to say goodbye to such a kind, capable, and dear friend. As you know; Joey taught me to play guitar over 50 years ago. I remember my father coming home after my lessons and saying to my mother.... "That young Joey Rankin has to be the kindest and most patient man on Earth." Every time we tried something new in music class; and we generally murdered it, Joey would smile and say "That was good!!...now let's try that again." The second time he would say "That was much better! You guys are doing terrific!!" That was Joey...always patient; always kind, and always encouraging people to be the best that they could be. But in addition to all of that; and perhaps more importantly, Joey led by example. Joey was an incredible teacher and musician; but he was much more than that. He held many talents; and he did EVERYTHING to the best of his ability. Joe loved his family; respected everyone, admired and supported those who served our Country, and was a friend to the elderly, the sick, the less fortunate, and anyone that was down on their luck. Like his beautiful wife Effie; his brother (Father Bill), and his father before him (Bert)...Joey didn't say much; and didn't miss anything! Our world could do with a lot more people like Joey Rankin in it. He will be missed; but NEVER forgotten. Sending you our love and prayers today and always!! It was with sadness and surprise that I read Joey’s obituary in today’s paper. I’ve known Joey all of his life and although there has not been much contact in recent years our friendship continued with many shared memories.
