New Waterford

Aubrey Eric Dejeet, age 84 of New Waterford, passed away peacefully at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on July 9^th, 2018.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Lazarus and Annie (Lamond) Dejeet.

Aubrey was a veteran having served overseas and was a retired chief stationary engineer in Brockville, Ontario. Upon retirement he returned to Cape Breton. He was a hard worker and good father to his children; he also loved his dog, Scottie.

Aubrey was a loving and caring father to his son, Jim, Ontario and daughter, Theresa ``Terry” Davis, Ontario.

Also surviving are his brother, Rev. Alfred Dejeet, Mill Cove , New Brunswick; sister, Audrey Mercer, New Waterford; grandchildren, James, and Dillon Dejeet, Jeremy and Adam Davis and  great-grandson, Corbin.  He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, Aubrey was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Huggard and his brother -in- law, Wilfred; sister-in-law, Bertha

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July, 14th at 11am in Calvin United Church with Rev Duncan Roach officiating.

 A reception will follow in the Rev. Duncan Roach Fellowship Room at Calvin United Church. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the local S.P.C.A.

The family would to thank the doctors and nursing staff  at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital and to the New Dawn Home Care  for the excellent care given to Sonny.
