Sharon (Mugford) MacDonald posted a condolence
From highschool days onward, Victor was someone I much admired (we were classmates). Our acquaintance was renewed about 15 years ago when we frequently talked at the Farmers' Market in Sydney. You must be proud of his community contributions over the years. I'll remember him fondly. May he rest in eternal peace.

Victor was a wonderful neighbour and friend when I was growing up in Glace Bay. He had such a caring heart, always taking care of everyone. Glad we got to visit him weekly at Alderwood reminiscing about the old days, before we moved back to Ontario. He will be forever remembered in our hearts.

I am so very sorry to hear of Victor's passing. He truly was a great man and a gentleman. He was a great friend of my Father, Willie Vienneau, and he spoke of Victor often. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Jones in a very unique way, but one that still gives me a feeling of love, calm and a faith in humanity. I was leaving NS to move to BC and wanted to visit my Dad's grave site once more before I left. I was quite upset and couldn't find his grave through my tears. I was starting to panic when this gentle man came up to me and asked if he could help. I told him whose grave I was looking for and he not only helped me find it, he told name about the friendship he had with "Bill" Vienneau. I really needed someone to just listen while I poured my thoughts out and Mr. Jones just sat with me and let me talk. He gave me such comfort that day. I arranged to have breakfast with him when I returned to NS for a visit. He, my Mom and I enjoyed our visit. I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope your memories bring you comfort during this troubling time. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless. Jennette Vanier

It was with great sadness that I read about the death of a great person who I had the opportunity to get to know many years ago. We worked together in the field of Human Rights and shared many hours of hard work in the interest of the community. He was a gentleman and a committed person. I considered him a friend . To the family that he loved dearly cherish his memories and be blessed. Carolyn G. Thomas via: USA

Many years later I still remember 'Vic' as we then called him at the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. Not only was he in the Mines, but he was in the trenches with many of us fighting for the rights of others. His memory lingers on for the great contributions he made and the fine gentleman that he was. Blessings and thanks are extended to his family.
