Obituary of Mary Ethel Hill
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Mary Ethel Hill, age 67 on Friday, July 1st 2016 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to all of her family.
Mary, in years past, loved to play darts as she played in many women's leagues. As years passed, her greatest joy was being a grandmother to grandchildren, Jason Hill and Derek Irvine. They were her world and she loved to see them smile and hear them laugh. Besides her grandchildren, her other enjoyment was playing cards with the Ladies at the seniors complex where she lived.
Mary is survived by her son, Cory Hill (Tanya); brothers, Albert Hill (Cathy), Eddie Hill (Thelma), Robert Hill (Hazel), Lloyd Hill; sister, Diane O’Reilly (Frances); sister-in-law, Annmarie Hill and grandchildren Jason Hill and Derek Irvine. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored.
She was predeceased by her parents Elmira Hill and Ralph Hill Sr., and brother, Ralph Hill Jr.
Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday July 7th at 1 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral service, officiated by Rev Allan MacLellan, will follow at 2 p.m in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be held in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
We would like to the thank Dr. Mclean and the staff of the Glace Bay Hospital 3rd east that took such good care of Mary.
Also for the many years of services we would like to give a big thank you to the New Waterford Homecare Service Society that came in every day and took care of her as well as the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) who came in day after day to help take care of Mary.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.vjmcgillivray.ca
