Rita (Donovan) Mullins

1945-2016

The family of beloved Rita Mullins is in deep grief and sadness at her sudden passing while visiting in Oshawa Ont.

Rita was the daughter of the late Jean (Poirier) Donovan and George Donovan.

Born in Glace Bay, Rita attended St John’s school and St Anne’s High.

She is survived by her son Terrance (Brenda) Mullins, Glace Bay and daughters, Darlene (Todd) Vanstone, and Daneen Doucet, both of ON.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Travis, Trevor, Brianna, Tyler, Tara, Jeffory, Jordan, Tanner, Adam and Alanna, and 5 great-grandchildren whom all loved her dearly.

Also surviving is her brother Blaise (Sheila) Donovan, sisters, Sr. Ellen Donovan, Jean Marie Doherty, Trish (Tommy) MacDonald and brother-in-law Bobby Barrett.

Left to mourn her are her many friends at the Kennedy Drive Complex.

Rita was a single mother of deep faith and great devotion to our blessed Mother Mary. She had great devotion to the rosary and recited it several times a day.

She faithfully attended communion services every Sunday. Rita was a gentle forgiving soul full of compassion for the poor and sick.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marg Barrett, Mary Devison and her special granddaughter Jeanine Danielle, and niece Jean Danielle.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, July 19th 2016, at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay with Father Norman MacPhee presiding. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Hub Club.
