Obituary of Sheila Josephine McMaster, New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving mother and grandmother, Sheila McMaster, on March 18, 2019.

Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late John and Bridget (McEachern) McMaster. She was a member of the Parish of Saint Leonard. Sheila worked for Nova Scotia Power for many years, NW Credit Union and Tartan Downs.

In her retirement, Mom loved to spend time with her four grandchildren. She loved watching Jax and Cash play hockey, Jaiden play basketball and visits with Lucas from Alberta. They will truly miss their “Nanny” Sheila. Mom loved to dance whether it was line dancing or good ‘ol rock and roll'. Mom also loved to go for drives exploring the island, attending dinner theatres with Wayne and her many gatherings with friends.

She is survived by her loving partner, Wayne MacKenzie; daughter, Melanie (Mark), Alberta; her son, Jeff (Jody) Ryan, Sydney; her sisters, Loretta McMaster, Rachel Storey, Emiline MacDonald, Gertrude (Jim) Rigby, Marilyn LeDrew, Ester McMaster; her brother, Danny McMaster and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her parents; her stepdad, Vince Daley; her sisters, Cassie, Theresa, Christina and her brothers, Peter, John and Carl.

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 22, 2019 at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass of celebration will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford. Donations in her memory may be made to the Arthritis Society. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.

Nanny Sheila, you will always be in our hearts.
