Dear cousins,
I am so sorry to hear of your Fathers passing. I have many fond memories of my uncle Ray over the years...going back to when he was a teenager and I was a little girl...we would come to Cape Breton in the summer and he would take me for rides on his bike (I believe on the front handlebars)......he was always happy and fun. While he was in the service we didn’t see your family for long periods of time but I do remember one time your family unexpectedly arrived at my house and it was Canadian Thanksgiving....for us it was Columbus Day and all the stores were closed...so I went into my freezer and we had spaghetti for Thanksgiving dinner. Once he retired and went back to New Waterford, I got to see him on visits to Cape Breton with my mother and I last saw him six years ago. He was a wonderful uncle and person and I always knew how much family meant to him. I will miss his smile and wonderful sense of humor.

Dear Bonita and family, it was with much sadness that Val and I learned of Ray’s recent passing. We offer our sincere and heartfelt condolences. I knew Ray mainly through the many great stories you told us of him. Most of those stories left us in tears from all the laughing, especially the famous Christmas can of corn. He was very much a person who lived in the moment and loved his family dearly. I too am a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, though I was not as wise as Ray because I went Army! I thank Ray and his family for his many years of unselfish service and sacrifice for the RCAF, the CAF and Canada. I suspect you are living through some sad and dark days. However, I know first hand that you have so many great memories of Ray that will brighten any such day. Steak dart nights will not be the same but his spirit will always live on. Take care. Love Blaise & Val

I am sorry for such a profound loss for the whole family. I haven't the opportunity to meet Ray but from knowing his daughter Bonita, the stories she had of him, and the great respect she had of him, he will be sorely missed by all.
