My sincere condolences to the family of Mary K. My mother, Mamie (Williams) MacKenzie, was also a graduate of the St. Joseph's Hospital class of 1942. Mary K and my mother stayed in touch over the years with Chistmas cards and phone calls and no trip to Cape Breton was complete without a visit with Mary K and Michael. I can remember hearing Mary K's name and knowing about her for many, many years. The ladies from that class were a tight knit group. You will always hold on to the wonderful memories you have of her.
Sincerely,
Judith Trumbo

Barbara and Brian
My sincere condolences to you and your families on the passing of your mother.
We were out of town and I just now saw her obituary. A lovely and fitting one I might add. I knew your mom as a patient when I was in training, and found her to be caring and very good at her job, putting my fears to rest about surgery, Then a few years later I had the pleasure to work with her a few times. All the while she went about her work with professional yet caring attitude.
I am sure she will be greatly missed . May you find comfort in your memories you shared.

Dear Barbara and Brian,
Our deepest sympathies to you with the passing of your mom. She was a very warm and thoughtful person and as ‘sharp as a tack’. I have many wonderful memories, especially the deep and special bond she shared with Anne Mae and also with the interest she took in me and with my family. I’m blessed to have known her as my dear Aunt and will always remember her fondly.

Mary K. was a great person and a great neighbour. Matthew would be playing in the yard and then the phone would ring. It would be Matthew saying he was in Mary K's house having milk and cookies. Our deepest condolences to you family.

MacDonald Family,
My sincere condolences on the passing of Mary K. I will miss the frequent chats that spanned 30 years as one of her healthcare providers and many friends. I often think that I received more benefit from those conversations than she did, and I will miss them very much. She was a perfect example of a life well-lived.

Dear Barbara and Brian,
So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. From my youth to adulthood, whatever I had going on in my life, I always walked through our yard to your house to tell Mrs Mac Donald about it. She ALWAYS had time for me and made me feel like I was the most important person in the room. Alone time with her was always the best! She introduced me to gardening, politics, how to make a simple snack feel like fine dining, how you are never alone when you have the unconditional love a spoiled cat or dog, and the rewards of being in medicine...just to name a few. Family and friends were always her priority. I never heard her say a mean word about anyone. She always told me I would succeed in whatever task I was struggling through and was my biggest cheerleader when I accomplished something. When she saw me struggling to say goodbye to my parents when my vacations at home were coming to a close she always reassured me. Little did she know my struggle was with leaving her on those trips as well. In so many ways she was “my church”. A part of my heart will go with her as she is laid to rest today. Thank you both for sharing your mom with me all these years. Her memories and inspiration will be carried deep inside for an eternity. Warmest of hugs....Nancy Bonaparte

To the MacDonald Family,
I was impressed with your mother's obituary mentioning "a well lived life and a sense of peace" because your Mom and Dad were very much a part of my youth growing up in Reserve Mines. We would see each other at Sunday Mass and other occasions and, of course, everyone knew the MacDonald 's. I was thinking of her when I celebrated my 50th and even though she couldn't attend she sent a beautiful note. I meant to visit her but, regretfully, it never happened. So I extend my sympathies and condolences, care and concern, friendship and prayer for your Mom and your family.
God grant her peace.
Fraternally

Dear Brian and Barbara,
I was very sad to learn of your mother's passing. She was a very special person: caring, generous, courageous, and always made one feel so welcomed. I feel fortunate to have some treasured photos of her holding my two girls when they were infants: Sophia (now 6) and Katherine (now 2). Mary K will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
God Bless

Mary K was the best of the best. I considered her my Second Mom. She took care of me, she fed me, she shared her family stories with me: Annie Mae, her mother, her father, her aunt, her niece, her sisters, her nursing stories, their family trips to Boston, to mention a few. She always welcomed me when I arrived unannounced ! She was generous beyond words She was shy but could hold her own with anyone. She was very intelligent and world aware, but she was also humble. She was so beautiful and so young looking it was hard to believe she was just shy of 100.
Rest well, good and faithful servant. You deserve it.
My condolances to all her family, friends and aquaintences. I will miss her but I can't imagine the loss that Barbara, Brian, Valerie, Margo, Mary McNeil, Carol, ...experience. Loss mixed with joy and love.
Mary K thank you for letting me into your life.
